Welcome to St. Croix Island!
Lush green hills, warm aquamarine waters and long, sandy beaches, this is the tropical island of St. Croix. The largest of all three U.S. Virgin Islands, St. Croix is a mere 83 sq mi (215 sq km) in size and has just two small towns—Christiansted and Frederiksted—each with a very modest population. A friendly Caribbean culture and relaxed island atmosphere pervades on St. Croix, while its tourism-based economy ensures plenty to see and do. Since Columbus first landed here in the 15th Century, this little piece of paradise has flown seven different flags. It's been colonized by Spain, Great Britain, the Netherlands, France, the Knights of Malta, Denmark and the United States. Due to this, a distinct mix of historical sites and architecture are spread across St. Croix, while English, Spanish and a French Creole are all spoken. There are three golf courses (the Reef, Buccaneer and Carambola) and plenty of good dive spots. Just north of St. Croix, Buck Island Reef National Monument preserves a 176 acre (71 ha) island and the surrounding reefs. This is a popular destination for snorkelers, featuring scenic coral reefs, clear water, and abundant tropical fish.Current & Upcoming Events [ View All ]
